David W. Ellwood is Senior Adjunct Professor of European and Eurasian Studies at Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) Europe. Formerly he was Associate Professor of contemporary international history at the University of Bologna.

Abstract: How come that the so-called “Marshall Plan” looms so large in Western European public memory, even though it was only a four-year-programme? As one of the most accomplished and often-cited scholars in the field, David W. Ellwood has worked on this question for decades. As part of the BA Seminar “Images of the Marshall Plan”, he will talk about the myth of the Marshall Plan and “the media and the message” of its propaganda campaign.
