Research
My research concerns the diplomatic relations between British India and the United States during the Second World War., through the office of the British Indian Agent-General. It draws from the role of British Indian diplomats in Commonwealth politics during the interwar years. I attempt to look at this through their participation in platforms like the Imperial Conferences as well as other networks, in the context of changes in the constitution of the Empire in the interwar years. My research intends to highlight the role of non-Western actors in informing the contours of international politics, and how their positionality as British Indians informed their articulations of the futures they imagined for the region.
