Emma Briant (University of Sheffield): "Institutional Cultures in the Production of US Counter-terrorism Propaganda"
Dr Emma L Briant is a sociologist/political scientist from University of Sheffield, UK, whose main research interests are in propaganda and particularly US and British governmental adaptation to a changing media and conflict environment.
This talk will draw on insights from her latest book "Propaganda and Counter-Terrorism" on Anglo-American counter-terrorism propaganda strategy since 9/11. It will explore changes in how legitimacy was constructed and the role of institutional cultures in shaping propaganda processes during conflict.
