Susan Smulyan
Susan Smulyan is Professor, Department of American Studies, at Brown University and the incoming Director of the John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage. She is the author of Selling Radio: The Commercialization of American Broadcasting and Popular Ideologies: Mass Culture at Mid-Century, and co-editor of Major Problems in American Popular Culture. She has worked on three web projects: "Whole Cloth: Discovering American History Through Science and Technology"; "Freedom Now!: An Archival Project of Tougaloo College and Brown University"; and "Perry Visits Japan." Susan was an Arts Faculty Visiting International Scholar, School of Historical Studies, University of Melbourne and currently chairs the Board at New Urban Arts, a mentoring program for high school students.
