Julia Leyda Visiting Professor in Winter Term 2015/2016

Julia Leyda will be a visiting professor at the Graduate School for North American Studies in the upcoming winter term (October 2015-February 2016). During her time at GSNAS she will advise doctoral students and co-teach a seminar with Prof. Kirsten Twelbeck. Julia has published widely in contemporary Film, Television, and Media Studies and in American Studies. In addition to articles in journals such as American Quarterly, Comparative American Studies, Cinema Journal, Jump Cut, and Television and New Media, she has edited several books, including Todd Haynes: Interviews (UP of Mississippi, 2014), Extreme Weather and Global Media (with Diane Negra, Routledge, 2015), Post-Cinema: Theorizing 21st-Century Film (with Shane Denson, REFRAME, 2015), and The Aesthetics and Affects of Cuteness (with Joshua Dale, Joyce Goggin, Anthony McIntyre, and Diane Negra, Routledge, 2017). Based previously at Sophia University in Tokyo for ten years, she has also been a fellow with the Popular Serialty Research Unit (PSRU) at Freie Universität Berlin since May 2015.
