The interdisciplinary study of law and literature has been a staple of US school curricula since the 1970s, and in the course of the cultural turn has found its way into English, Comp Lit, and Sociology departments. Understood more broadly as Law and the Humanities today, this approach is still relatively new to German American Studies.
